Lyle Kendrick, Video #4, Chalk
Chalking from Lyle Kendrick on Vimeo.
I'm starting to think there's a method to this madness. Having us do two separate editing projects--one with our footage, one with someone else's definitely helped me think about moving forward and the process of editing.
Trying to avoid jump cuts, making the natural sound present but not overbearing, and creating a compelling audio narrative and then blending those elements was more of a challenge than I realized. I learned how much stronger a story can be with CLOSE tight shots and a good range of medium and wide shots. The way the raw footage initially looked and how I was able to weave that into a minute gave me some ideas about what to look for when shooting for my final project.
